I've never seen drama around a camera Before but this camera had it had some Drama that's just funny to me like it's A camera it it's a camera anyway this is The new Lumix [Music] S9 and it has somehow Surprisingly like I just I didn't expect To like it I that's all it's it's become My Favorite I really feel like the best way To start off this video is just going to Be to show you some footage taken on This camera so just roll that every shot You're looking at right now was taken Directly out of the camera no color Correction ated this is just what it Looked like when we shot it and maybe Just for fun splice in some shots of our New mouse pad designs reallygood mous Pads.com they're beautiful mouse pads They're also really good link is down in The description below go pick one up we Just got back from a 10-day trip to Japan and I need to find a house and Move there if you've never been maybe Just don't go because once you go Everywhere else in the world will just Disappoint you but I made the jump from Sony to Lumix a year ago also in Japan Actually some of you guys might remember They sponsored two videos on this Channel and they asked me to try out the S52 their new camera at the time and
Then once I was done trying it I could Go back to Sony I could do whatever I Want I have no long-term contract with Lumix I'm not an ambassador to Lumix I Haven't been paid by Lumix since those Videos but since those two videos every Video on this channel has been shot with The Lumix S5 Mark I mostly because of One feature a feature that Sony doesn't Have Canon doesn't have nobody has but Lumix it's 6K open gate 6K open gate 6K Open gate 6K open gate 6K open gate 6K Open Gate 6K open gate this one's a big one For me there are way too many cameras on My desk right now we need to move these There are things I miss about shooting On my sons but one thing I don't miss is That every single shot I took I had to Ask myself do I want to shoot horizontal Or do I want to shoot this ver and Sometimes maybe I need both and so I'd Shoot it this way and then I'd stop Recording and I turn it this way and I Shoot it again and that might not sound Like a huge deal but it just sucks the Fun out of shooting when before every Single shot I got to ask what's this Going to be used for how's this going to Be edited before every single shot open Gate is just taller footage it means I Can just shoot however I want like this And then it can be used both for Horizontal and vertical footage later
Decision fatigue is a real thing I've Got It Bad and that one feature removed 100 decisions a day for me it was big For me at least big enough that it's Still my main camera this new camera the S9 is that but cranked up to 11 this Takes the camera out of the camera that Sentence didn't make any sense this is Just the first time in a while I've Enjoyed shooting again because of some Specific changes that they made so let Me just get a little comfortable here And I'm going to Rapid Fire some of the Things I really like about this camera Important disclosures first this video Is not sponsored by Lumix I'm not Getting paid to make this video Lumix Doesn't get to see this video before It's posted Lumix doesn't even know I'm Making this video they did however fly Me to Japan for the camera launch event Put me in a hotel for 4 days and provide Me this camera to check out and that's Actually what the drama from the Beginning of this video is about and It's a little bit more understandable I Will get into it at the end if you want This camera is essentially this camera Just slimmed down quite a bit a handful Of things added a handful of things Removed this is the s52 by the way the Camera I've been using for the last year It still has that same fullframe 6K open Gate and that is just Bonkers to me
$1,500 this size 6K just let me one Second I'll be right back 6 years ago I Bought this camera $3500 1080p there we go I think that's The shot look at that that is wild 6K 1080p one more shot just for fun look at That that's wild it still has the same Inbody stabilization that Lumix has Become famous for if you haven't seen This clip that's just dust running with The camera in his hand it's nuts in a Body this size also same gigantic Battery usually small cameras like this Put a tiny battery in same huge battery That one surprised me what's new what's New is this button can you read that This one right here the L button what Does the L button do well normally when We shoot videos we shoot in a log format And it looks like this it looks terrible But it gives you extra flexibility to Color and post hit the L button bam Beautiful colors right in the footage if You've never heard of a l before that's Basically what it is it's like an Instagram filter but it actually looks Good and I can store up to 39 of these Luts in the camera for whatever color The situation calls for do you know how Much family vacation footage I have that Looks like this all of it looks like This every time I go on a family Vacation and I shoot stuff my family's Like oh let me see the footage from
Today and I have to be like hold on a Second let me throw it in Final Cut slap A color profile on it then export it and Then you can see it when we get back to The hotel tonight like now boom Pretty footage and even better if There's something I want to shoot and Log I hit this button right here back to Log I set the button next to it to be a Toggle so I can just jump back and forth Just colored log colored log and if You're wondering Harris where do you get These LS from what a great question I Love how smart my audience is there's a New app that connects to your camera It's called Lumix lab and in there you Can just browse free Luts made by Professionals and creators download them And transfer them over to your camera if I had did guess I'd say there's over a Hundred of them in there with previews And everything so you can just find one That you're looking for this is also the Same new app that you can transfer Photos and videos over from your camera To your phone and they added a 5 GHz Wi-Fi band into this typically cameras Have 2.4 GHz so you can transfer files Insanely fast like I transferred a whole Minute of 4K footage to my phone in one Minute it's the first time I've ever Been able to successfully transfer Footage from my camera to my phone so Now I can shoot something in open gate
With beautiful color baked into it send That footage straight to my phone make Some minor edits and upload it straight To Tik Tok or Instagram or text it to a Family member the buttons are laid out Super simply and easy to memorize and The camera is just tiny and fun to use And easy to carry around look at this I Just I haven't enjoyed a camera this Much in a really long time I also think The red is sexy as hell like every time I went at to Starbucks in Japan kak So what's wrong with it then because in Order to pack all that into this tiny Body they cut out some things and I Think they cut out the things that make It pretty much useless for professional Photographers and videographers for Example it's missing a mechanical Shutter and a hot shoe so studio Photography it's out it also has an Insane recording limit like if you're Shooting in 4k you can only shoot 15 Minutes if you're shooting 6 you can Only shoot 10 minutes so you won't be Shooting interviews or talking head Videos like this like all these videos I'm still going to be shooting on my S5 Mark II I think lumik tried to make it Very clear who this camera is for and That who is not professionals at least Not for their professional use my Opinion on this we are finally getting To a point where we are adding
Professional features into Nonprofessional cameras priced for Nonprofessionals but because this is Really one of the first times I think That confuses a lot of people you put 6K Full frame frame footage onto a camera And professionals are going to think It's for them and then they're going to Get upset when it's missing some of the Other features they need this camera is For beginners who maybe aren't on a Budget or mid to high-end enthusiasts Who just want to go out and shoot and Vlog and create and they finally have a Camera that can get them legitimately Professional shots and I think that's Awesome and I think there's a large Audience for that I think I'm in that Audience that's me I am that audience That's me but if you do need those Professional features the S5 2 is now Just like $300 more I didn't even really Know who Lumix was a year ago and now They're building a banger lineup of Cameras I'm just excited for their new Flagship to come out it's been 5 years Lumix we're all excited for it so what's The drama what's the tea are we are we Really doing this you want to talk about It I think it was a perfect storm of Three fair and legitimate things first Thing about a month before this launch Insta 360 was caught trying to hide Sponsored content like telling creators
Not to disclose that they were paid Which is just kind of scummy and I think It set a lot of people on edge about Creators giving and hiding biased Reviews second thing Lumix flew a bunch Of creators to Japan and gave them a Free camera and while they didn't ask us To make a video on the camera there were People who were flown to the last Japan Event who didn't make a video who Weren't invited back to this one so it Leads to some iffy Optics that's totally Understandable but I think the third Thing is the kicker and that's when the S9 was released it looks really boring On paper like it's specs there's nothing Nothing exciting and new but once you Use it and play with it and realize all The things that I mentioned in this Video you kind of fall in love with it And so you have all these YouTubers Flying to Japan making these relatively Positive videos on an underwhelming Looking camera right around the time When people are really sensitive to this And I just think lumist do a great job Of quelling that I think it's a it was a Very preventable situation Gerald undun Did a phenomenal video kind of covering The whole situation if you want to know More about this I highly recommend you Watch this video I'll uh I'll link to it Down below for you oh and I also just Remembered one more feature that I I
