Well the go XLR is dead kinda yes and no The go acceler team just announced on Their Discord this week that the TC Helicon gaming company had let go of Their entire go XLR development staff Their support staff so your go XLR will Work tomorrow and the next day but at Some point windows will update and it Won't be compatible anymore or there Will be some bugs that won't get fixed There's a lot more to the situation and If you're interested you can read the Entire Discord post but I want to talk About something a little bit more urgent Here in this video The Go XLR is four And a half years old I mean when this Thing was first announced streamers Including myself were still using these And for the first time ever streamers Had access to multi-channel mixing using Faders we had simple IO dual PC support Like this was this was the largest leap And content creator audio that I think Will ever happen but it's been over four Years now and a lot of new products have Been released since then a lot of these New products have new features that the Go XLR doesn't have so what I want to do In this video is whether you're looking To replace the go XLR with something More up to date or you're just getting Your first content creator audio device I want to go over some of the best Alternatives that I feel fit the bill
And talk about some of their main Features what are their main selling Points and then maybe who are they Targeted after so you can figure out Which box you fit into all right Jump into it [Music] So look streamers I have this thing that I've been wanting to show you that'll Get your chat more engaged with your Stream and then we'll also help drive a Little bit more Revenue to your channel So engagement let's turn it up to 11. It's called tangia and it's the sponsor Of today's video and I want to show you A couple things that it does first it's A complete text-to-speech studio so you Can turn your own voice into a text to Speech model or you can just choose Another Text-to-Speech voice from their High quality character Library you can Give your chat a chance to drop some Memes right on your stream your chat can Actually donate to control your game Your chat can even share media like tick Tocks directly on your stream this whole Thing is a massive chat engagement Library like I'm merely scratching the Surface here take a look at all these Custom interactions I'm actually really Excited to try out this one called bees Your viewers can draw on your stream They can even take sound bites of Moments of your stream and turn them
Into short sound clips that they can Play these all sound like amazing things To just do during like gameplay of your Stream but also this feels to me like Something to be amazing during just Chatting portions of your stream to keep Them random and exciting and something You can't expect you know kanji is Available on any platform YouTube twitch Kick and even more it even connects with A twitch extension or twitch Channel Point redemptions you have a whole Suite Of moderation tools to make sure nobody Takes advantage of text to speech on Stream which let's be real that's kind Of clutch I actually set up this whole Thing in OBS myself it took like three Minutes and they basically walk you Through step by step of exactly how to Set it up and it worked flawlessly so Check it out at the link in the Description down below set up tangia on Your stream and uh have some fun with Your viewers so there are a gajillion Audio devices the content creator Ecosystem the industry has exploded and Every Audio company wants a piece of That pie so we could spend a 30 minute Video talking about it instead I want to Talk about some of the main competitors So we'll go into the top three that I Feel should be considered first then I'll share some of the other ones that I'm not going to dive into just so you
Have some some other names that you can Research if you want and then after that I'll tell you exactly what system I use And and what I do back at my streaming Setup that's behind me over here cool All right let's start with the most Obvious and the most popular one Elgato's wave ecosystem this ecosystem Includes a handful of products including A USB condenser microphone and XLR Interface and now a stream deck plus Which activates the ecosystem as well so You can use it in tandem with any USB Microphone they also have an XLR dynamic Microphone the wave DX to kind of round Out the whole picture here and even Though Elgato is not like a dedicated Audio company like some of the other Ones I'm going to mention here actually I think all the other ones I'm going to Mention here are there is a serious draw To using this ecosystem and that is Essentially the stream deck ecosystem Right when you buy an Elgato audio Device it can be completely controlled By a device that most streamers already Have you can completely control it with Your stream deck or even now with the Stream deck plus that has dials on it And when you combine that with elgato's Insane talent for taking an incredibly Functional and advanced device and Making it simple enough that anyone can Use it right out of the box I mean
You've got the W that Elgato has been Sitting on for years now any of these USB devices that I mentioned earlier Activate the wavelink software which is Virtual mixing software you can have up To oh I don't remember nine or ten Different channels in this thing you can Have different mixes one that you send To your headphones one that you send to Your audience you can switch back and Forth between speakers and headphones You can even add multiple microphones Into the system even non-elgato Microphones USB microphones and Completely control them from a stream Deck or a stream deck Plus or anything You want I mean this thing was designed For Content creators who have little to No experience with audio but want to Have good audio on their systems with Almost no effort and I think they nailed It I would say it's a fairly overly Simplistic system so if if you're trying To do things like a two PC setup it is Possible but it's not optimized for it I've actually got a diagram I'll post it Right here for a second screenshot it if You want this is actually sent to me by Elgato when I asked hey what's the best Way to do a two PC system on your Wavelength setup so this is the Direction you want to go Here it is however if you are looking For a two PC setup the next brand might
Be what you're looking for actually the Next two Brands let's talk about Road Rode has also in the last year or two Really been beefing up their content Creator audio system they've had the Road Caster Pro for a long time and they Recently released the road Caster Pro 2 Which is phenomenal even more recently They released the road Caster Duo which Is just a trunk and down version for People who don't need four microphone Inputs they've got the new streamer X Which I've got right here and I actually Will be testing over the next couple Days or so and their lineup of rode X Mics which all give you access to the Rode unify software Road UniFi is very Similar to the wavelength software where It allows you to have multiple channels Coming into it to separate your game Audio from your music audio from your Discord audio you can send different Mixes to different outputs so one of Your headphones one to uh one to the Stream but while Elgato is a content Creator company that also makes audio Devices rode seems to be more of an Audio company that makes devices for Creators does that make sense like if You were to take their Flagship device Right the road Caster Pro 2 you got six Faders on here look at look at all this Hardware i o on the back of this thing And you got inputs and outputs for days
Including two USB ports so you can plug It into two different PCS directly over USB and both will be feeding audio in And out from this device and then you Can compare that with the Simplicity of Elgato's Flagship device which has one Dial And you know very minimal i o on the Back road definitely goes a more Traditional power user approach and it Has a similar approach to a go XLR with All the i o on the back there so if You're looking for a hardware device That does everything in the box right There and that can range from four input Devices that takes up half your desk to A one input device that's this small Road might be the direction you want to Go company number three has a bit of a Soft spot for me this is beacon beacon Came onto the scene about a year year And a half ago with their Dynamic USB Microphone the beacon mic as well as Their mix and their mix create digital Mixers but what makes this company so Interesting is this was the original Team that built the go XLR I mean you've Got one of the leads over there Craig or Judearis who was the original Mastermind Behind the go XLR working at TC Helicon He and a handful of other people on the Team left when it was clear TC Helicon Didn't have any ambition to do anything More with it and they started their own
Company beacon beacon took a really Interesting Direction with their company Where you have Elgato which is ultra Simplistic very much software based and Then you have rode which is very much a Power user Hardware i o based Beacon Aligned itself somewhere in the middle With some very powerful professional Audio tools made simple enough for any Content creator to use for example if You were to buy their USB Dynamic mic The microphone itself comes with this Suite of software that has incredibly Advanced Audio vsts things that you Don't see in any of the other products Like an expander which is basically a Noise gate but 10 times better very Simple but powerful parametric EQ a Bunch of other audio effects that are Redesigned to be easy to use but with The power of pro audio it also comes With a full mixing Suite built into the Software with a routing table and Everything the beacon team spent a lot Of time taking powerful tools and trying To make easy for anyone to use and one Of my favorite Parts on it is that it's All built into the microphone it's Actually got the processor built into The mic so not only does that mean the Processing is done on the mic and it Doesn't take up any of your PC's power To do any of it but also when you plug In headphones to the back of it you
Listen to it you can hear all those Effects in real time and then if you Also want to add control over the mixing Software at the touch of your hands You've got the mix or the mix create Devices because it's got a massive Screen and it's dedicated to audio right On your desk so I would say if you're Looking for the simple user-friendly Experience of Elgato but you want to add In a little bit of audio steroids Whether it's a better sound effects Whether it's a better two PC setup Experience anything like that you go With Beacon so those would be in my Opinion the top three contenders I think With those three different systems you Could pretty much fill almost any need Of a content creator but in case you're Like I don't like those three let me Give you a list of a handful of other Good contenders right after you hit the Like button down there because you know You've been watching this far you always Obviously like the video and it's free And it helps out a lot and while you're Down there hit the Subscribe button a Lot of these are Legacy audio companies Like Yamaha and Mackie that have been in The audio industry for a while that have Seen the expansion of this content Creator industry and wanted to jump in So for example you have the Mackie dlz Creator Creator dlz I think it's Creator
Dlz which I'm testing on my stream right Now actually by the way it's a really Cool device you've got the Roland Bridge Cast which I've seen people on Twitter Say they really like you've got the Yamaha zg01 that I tested myself and had A good experience with you get the lewit Connect 6. these are all big names in Audio so you'll notice a little bit more Of of a leaning towards the audio side And less towards the content creator Side with these but take a look at any Of those if they look interesting AVerMedia released the Nexus a couple Years ago which is kind of like if you Were to take a go XLR and a stream deck And just like mush them together I Really liked the concept like the idea In theory but there were a couple things About the execution that I felt fell Short But I haven't tested it since I first Got it so it's possible they've fixed a Lot of those problems I'd recommend you Check it out and lastly one that I hear People talk about is the PreSonus Revelator io24 which again is another Device that heavily pushes towards audio Tweakers like real audio junkies and Doesn't have a lot of the features that Are valuable for Content creators but Maybe that's you maybe you don't care About multi-channel mixing and high Quality mic audio is like your top
Priority something like this would be Great but now we're at the part where we Talk about my setup and I use a kind of A wild combination of devices so let's Jump into it what I use and why I've Picked each one first off the main Microphone that I use for streaming is a Rode shotgun microphone the ntg4 plus This is an XLR microphone and right now It feeds over into my Mackie Creator dlz This Mackie mixer is definitely overkill For most individual creators it's got Four microphone inputs on the back a ton Of i o and faders it's more of a Podcasting device but I also have my Guitar Rig feeding into two more inputs For a stereo input my Mac Mini also Connects into it and it goes out into my Speakers so I really like all the extra I o for that flexibility for my needs It's also worth noting that until a Couple weeks ago I used the road Caster Pro 2 where I'm using the Mackie now but I swapped them out to test the Mackie Mixer so I can make a video on it so Keep an eye out for that video soon but I use the shotgun microphone for very Natural sound on stream kind of like What these YouTube videos sound like so It picks up a lot of room it picks up a Lot of things around it if I want a game Or do anything on my computer I switch To my beacon dynamic microphone and it Isolates my voice from keyboard and
Mouse clicks or speaker sound it also Has more of that like iconic podcast Sound like you get from an sm7b and I Used to use both the mix and the mix Create on my desk in tandem with it However it bothered me a little bit that I had these two devices just completely Dedicated to audio taking up that much Space I know I've seen people like Streamers and Gamers that have like a Literal space station in front of them Of peripherals I like keeping things Really clean so when the stream deck Plus came out I figured out a way to use My beacon mic with the wavelength Software instead and all I needed was The stream deck plus to control not only My audio but then it also was a stream Deck and I had extra buttons or when I Wasn't streaming or using the mixer I Can then use those dials for video Editing or 3D work in blender I'm really Happy with the setup I get all the power Of the beacon microphone with the Effects on board being processed on the Processor on there and the cool RGB ring Around the microphone but I also get the More versatility of something like a Stream deck plus which is not only a Mixing interface but it's also a stream Deck so I can use the buttons to turn Off the beacon mic and turn on the Shotgun mic instead or anything else you Can do with a stream deck so what do you
Think any of these devices tickle your Fancy did I miss an important one that You wish was on this list comment down Below let me know And as always Happy streaming [Music]
